What I Wrote in my First Dating Profile as a Newly Non Monogamous Woman

Would anyone want to swipe right on me if I was married?

The last time I was single was essentially in the prehistoric age of dating. Back then, I was young, confident, single and monogamous. Flash forward 20 years, add in a husband and kids, less confidence and non monogamy… well, dating is a whole different ballgame.

When I was last single, 20+ years ago, you met a guy at a bar (how I met my husband), or in a class at university (yup, but that was the guy before my husband), or on a blind-date with the guy from church your grand-mother thought you were a perfect match with (OK, never happened to me, but could have).

But times have changed and when my husband and I decided to open up the relationship I had a small moment of pause: how was I going to meet a man who would want to have sex with me? Did I have to start putting on make-up, downing a few shots of vodka and go to the bar? Or enrol in a university-level course? Or flirt with people I work with??? Blind-date with grandma’s pick was no longer possible unfortunately…

So I did what most people do when they have a question — I Googled it. And yup, the advice is clear. The best way to meet someone, even as a non monogamous woman in her 40s, is online. There…

Ordinary, middle-aged, university-educated, working mother of three in a long-term loving marriage. Oh, and also non-monogamous. Ohhhh, and now also divorced.
